Class Situation Analysis Meeting
In order to further pay special attention to the preparation work in Grade 9 for the 2020 Senior High School Entrance Examination, let teachers grasp students’ learning situation more comprehensively, and make the review process more specific and effective, on 26th May, 2020, the Junior High Department of Anqing Foreign Language School’s east campus held a three-day class situation analysis meeting in Grade 9 with group meetings held in relevant classes in the meantime.
Before the meeting, the Junior High Department required the head teachers and subject teachers of Grade 9 to seize the opportunity, fully understand and grasp the learning situation to conduct in-depth analysis, correct attribution and reasonable measures. At the meeting, each head teacher first introduced the overall situation of their classes as well as the weekly test of each subject. Subsequently, teachers from each group proceeded extensive communication and in-depth discussion.
Considering that teachers generally faced the same students, the topic of communication was more natural. Thus, teachers exchanged in terms of students' school work, thoughts, behavioral habits, the overall outlook and individual phenomena. Specifically, teachers talked about the situation, studied the countermeasures, demonstrated the advantages and found the gaps. Finally, everybody reached a lot of consensus, for instance: focusing on top students and underachievers, strengthening the work of training excellent students and tutoring underachievers; paying attention to ‘learning, thinking, speaking and practicing’ to improve classroom efficiency; choosing homework carefully and providing timely correction and feedback. After such a thorough communication, teachers exchanged what they needed and inspired each other, thus enhancing the overall linkage and forming the resultant force of review and guidance.
During the summary process, the leaders of the Junior High Department fully affirmed the hard work and achievements of the teachers, and hoped that the teachers could comprehensively summarize the experience, reinforce the research efforts, optimize the test preparation strategy, enhance the sense of responsibility, and strive to find new growth points. Furthermore, everyone should make full efforts to prepare for the exam, concentrate on improving the teaching quality and make every effort to achieve new and greater breakthroughs in education quality of Anqing Foreign Language School.
Meanwhile, division leaders made specific guidance to the teaching of the sprint stage in Grade 9, requiring teachers to accomplish ‘two grasps and two returns’, which means we should grasp the examination outline and the learning condition, especially the difficulty and dimension of the examination outline. What’s noteworthy is that grasping the learning condition means teachers are supposed to pay attention to specific problems and specific people. On the other hand, two returns means returning to the question types and the knowledge system. Only when the question explanation returns to the question types, can a specific topic be typical, representative and have the effect of drawing inferences from one another. Similarly, the knowledge points must return to the knowledge system, because only in this way can students establish their own knowledge network, the mutual connection, the thorough understanding and let them intensify the ability to apply knowledge comprehensively and stimulate the immediate performance so that students can easily deal with various situations in the Senior High School Entrance Examination.
To conclude, this meeting was based on the learning conditions, which pooled the wisdom and efforts of everyone and made clear the focus and direction of education and teaching in the next step. Thus, it is beneficial to all teachers who will make joint efforts to help students strive for further improvement and create glory again.
